Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Housekeeping and Portering Trainer to lead the development and delivery of hands-on technical training programs for our Environmental Services team. This role is critical in ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety, and service quality across our facilities. The ideal candidate will be passionate about mentoring staff, promoting best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement

 

Now, if you were to come on board as our Training Specialist, we’d ask you to do the following for us:

  • Training Delivery:
    • Conduct hands-on training sessions for housekeeping and portering staff, focusing on technical skills, equipment usage, and cleaning protocols.
    • Develop and update training materials, SOPs, and visual aids to support learning.
    • Facilitate onboarding for new hires and refresher training for existing staff.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Monitor and evaluate staff performance to ensure adherence to quality standards.
    • Perform regular audits and inspections to identify training needs and areas for improvement.
    • Collaborate with supervisors to implement corrective actions and improvement plans.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Train staff in workplace safety, infection prevention, and proper handling of chemicals and equipment.
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, WHMIS, and internal policies.
    • Promote a safety-first culture through ongoing education and awareness initiatives.
  • Program Development:
    • Design and implement in conjunction with our QA Manager competency-based training programs tailored to various roles and experience levels.
    • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in environmental services.
    • Provide feedback and recommendations to leadership on training effectiveness and operational improvements.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in housekeeping, portering, or environmental services, with at least 1 year in a training or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with different personalities and learning styles
  • Ability to teach, coach and mentor associates on cleaning processes
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to develop engaging training content and deliver it effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Certification in WHMIS, Health & Safety, or related areas is an asset.
  • Experience in healthcare, hospitality, or institutional settings preferred.
