Now, if you were to come on board as a Sous Chef for Catering & Events, we’d ask you to do the following for us:

 

  • Prepare all products per recipes using approved, properly sourced ingredients.
  • Oversee daily food production for Diamond Alumni Centre and Catering services.
  • Maintain food production records per HSQA standards, including temperature, production, cooling, receiving, and waste logs.
  • Participate in weekly inventory counts; report to the Executive Chef.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation principles; keep all work areas clean and organized.
  • Attend pre-service meetings and complete pre-production according to the schedule.
  • Ensure equipment is operable and promptly report deficiencies.
  • Label prepared food with item name and production date per CGC QA standards.
  • Oversee and assign tasks to unionized associates to ensure timely food preparation.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and Executive Chef; address guest inquiries promptly.
  • Order inventory from approved suppliers; organize storage areas.
  • Contribute to new menu ideas.

 

Think you have what it takes to be our Sous Chef for Catering & Events? We’re committed to hiring the best talent for the role. Here’s how we’ll know you will be successful:

 

  • Red Seal certification or culinary degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in volume cooking, presentation, and food production supervision.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and kitchen production systems.
  • Physical Standards
  • Able to stand for extended periods and regularly lift/move up to 30 pounds.
