Job Summary

The Workers’ Compensation Claims Department generates Employer Report of Injury forms for submission to the applicable Workers’ Compensation Boards across Canada, in addition to providing ongoing claims management support by liaising with all key stakeholders.  The Claims Department also manages the return to work process following a workplace injury to ensure compliance with all applicable legislation.
Now, if you were to come on board as our Workers’ Compensation Claims and RTW Specialist, we’d ask you to do the following for us:
•    Manage work-related claims, including return-to-work programs for multiple jurisdictions across Canada
•    File workers’ compensation employer reports and supporting documentation within the legislated timelines, in addition to composing objection letters in accordance with WC legislation regarding any questionable claims
•    Initiate timely interventions and regular task follow-ups to reduce claims costs and mitigate duration of lost time claims
•    Regularly review and compare functional abilities forms to the modified work offers to ensure progression of return-to-work plans
•    Facilitate early and safe return to work through participation in RTW meetings with injured associate, operations team and WSIB RTW Specialist
•    Act as a liaison between front-line operations contacts, health care practitioners, the Workers’ Compensation Board, and any other relevant parties and make recommendations to assist in the associate’s accommodations throughout the return-to-work process
•    Ability to work with highly sensitive confidential information, including working with the People & Culture team to obtain work-related psychological injury claims investigation details
•    Daily, weekly and ad-hoc reporting utilizing Origami software and Excel
•    Complete Earnings Reports as required using JD Edwards or similar payroll software 
•    Complete Intent to Object forms to initiate appeals when adverse decisions are received 
•    Initiate and follow-up on formal requests for cost relief regarding any prolonged claims
•    Compose written appeals submissions to the WSBC Review Division and/or Dispute Resolution and Decision Review Body in Alberta
•    Targeted sector training regarding incident filing and modified work as required
•    Other projects as required and/or assigned

•    Relevant University or College degree with emphasis son HR, Labour, Health and Safety or Disability Management fields. 
•    Minimum of 5 year experience or 3 years with a paralegal designation. 
•    Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
•    Multi-provincial Workers’ Compensation claims management and return to work experience
•    Knowledge of workers’ compensation, OHS and Human Rights legislation 
•    Workers’ compensation appeals experience 
•    Ability to maintain confidentiality
•    Strong organizational skills
•    Knowledge of Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
