Job Summary

Now, if you were to come on board as our Human Resources/Labour Relations Generalist, we’d ask you to do the following for us:

  • Coordinate and provide administrative support on all HR issues including, but not limited to, recruitment, HR orientation, training, employee and labour relations, and performance management.
  • Work closely with Payroll and Benefits department to address any benefits and compensation issues.
  • Participate in recruitment and selection processes, including job postings, interviews, and onboarding.
  • Support onboarding new Associates, explaining benefits and policies, and helping to complete all new hire paperwork.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Support labour relations activities, including leading the grievance process, providing contract interpretation, and preparation for collective bargaining.
  • Conduct workplace investigations, ensuring fairness, confidentiality, and compliance with organizational policies and legal requirements.
  • Administer performance management processes and support leadership in addressing performance or conduct concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with employment standards, human rights legislation, health and safety regulations, and other applicable laws.
  • Support development and delivery of training sessions on HR and labour relations topics.
  • Collaborate with senior HR team members on policy development, workforce planning, and change management initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential HR records and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Assist our Occupational Health & Safety and Quality Assurance departments in ensuring units and associates adhere to the Company policies, as well as the Health & Safety and Quality Assurance provisions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably with exposure to a unionized environment.
  • Solid understanding of employment legislation and labour relations practices.
  • Experience in grievance handling, contract interpretation, and workplace investigations is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • High level of discretion, integrity, and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, often with competing priorities; ability to work autonomously without supervision
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • CHRP/CHRL designation (or working toward it) is considered an asset.
