Job Summary

We’re looking for a Disability Specialist to support non-occupational absences across Canada. In this role, you’ll oversee attendance support, coordinate modified duties and accommodations, and ensure compliance with collective agreements, human rights, and applicable provincial legislation. This role plays a key role in promoting attendance, supporting safe return to work, and providing guidance to leaders and associates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer a structured attendance support program to promote consistent and fair attendance management practices
  • Manage non-occupational absences and medical leaves
  • Coordinate and support safe return-to-work programs, including modified and transitional duties
  • Liaise with associates, managers, insurers, and healthcare providers to support case resolution.
  • Identify attendance trends, develop strategies to address concerns, and provide reporting on absenteeism.
  • Maintain confidential, accurate, and complete records of all disability and attendance cases.
  • Provide guidance and training to managers and HR colleagues on attendance, disability, and accommodation practices.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Disability Management, Occupational Health, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in disability case management, attendance programs, or related HR functions
  • Knowledge of Canadian employment legislation, human rights accommodation obligations, HOODIP, and collective agreement administration
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
  • Bilingual in English and French is an asset
