Job Summary

Now, if you were to come on board as our Senior District Accountant, we’d ask you to do the following for us:

  • Handle full-cycle accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end/year-end close.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and intercompany accounts.
  • Prepare and review trial balance and adjusting entries.
  • Oversee invoice processing, payments, and collections.
  • Reconcile A/P and A/R sub-ledgers to the general ledge and monitor aging reports to resolve discrepancies if any.
  • Review payroll and prepare the payroll journal entries.
  • Ensure expense reports and reimbursements comply with company policy.
  • Maintain and update the fixed asset register for additions, disposals, and transfers.
  • Record capital asset purchases and ensure compliance with capitalization policies.
  • Calculate and record monthly depreciation/amortization.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow).
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare tax including HST/GST, PST and QST returns on a timely basis.
  • Identify efficiencies in workflows and recommend automation or control improvements.
  • Support the implementation or upgrade of ERP/accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, JDE).
  • Provide guidance or mentorship to junior accounting staff as needed.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, finance, and management teams to support business objectives.
  • Perform ad hoc analyses, special projects, and any other tasks as required by management.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5-7 years Financial Accounting experience in a computerized accounting environment.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and the initiative to solve problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a team environment, both in the office and with Operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience working with JD Edwards and QuickBooks would be an asset.
  • Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, reconciliations).
