Pay range is $74,000 - $90,000 annually.

Job Summary

The General Manager is responsible for the full leadership, performance, and success of unit operations, including financial management, retail and dining programs, catering services, branded concepts, and client relations. This role oversees all aspects of daily operations and requires flexibility to work weekdays, evenings, and weekends as needed.

 

Now, if you were to come on board as one of our General Managers, we’d ask you to do the following for us:

Financial Leadership & Accountability
•    Own the full Profit & Loss (P&L) for all unit operations.
•    Develop, review, and manage weekly and monthly financial forecasts, identifying risks and opportunities.
•    Conduct budgeting, financial analysis, and weekly cost control for labour and product.
•    Ensure revenue growth, expense control, and achievement of financial targets.
Operational Excellence
•    Oversee all dining hall, retail, and catering operations, ensuring quality, service excellence, and brand consistency.
•    Lead the implementation and ongoing success of retail, merchandising, and marketing programs, including branded concepts (e.g., Tim Hortons, Pizza Pizza).
•    Ensure all POD, Chartwells, and campus programs are executed to standard.
Health, Safety, Quality & Compliance
•    Champion HSQA standards 24/7, ensuring all audits, inspections, and compliance requirements are met or exceeded.
•    Maintain strict adherence to quality assurance, food safety, health, safety, and environmental programs.
Client Relations & Campus Engagement
•    Manage client communications, ensuring strong relationships and timely follow-up on concerns.
•    Support campus events, sustainability initiatives, and community engagement activities.
•    Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and service excellence.
Team Leadership & Staff Development
•    Lead, motivate, and develop staff, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and recognition.
•    Oversee recruitment, training, scheduling, performance management, and labour relations.
•    Build strong, engaged teams capable of delivering exceptional service.
Marketing, Communication & Brand Activation
•    Execute the Chartwells Marketing Plan aligned with the academic calendar.
•    Collaborate with Marketing and Envision Group teams on promotions, activations, and student-focused events.
•    Support menu planning, merchandising, and communication strategies.
Ensure Performance Metrics Compliance
•    Achievement of financial targets (P&L, revenue growth, cost control).
•    HSQA audit scores consistently above 90%.
•    Positive client feedback and strong contract compliance.
•    Successful execution of branded concepts, retail programs, and catering events.

•    Minimum 5 years of management experience in foodservice or hospitality (post-secondary experience preferred).
•    Strong financial acumen and demonstrated success managing P&L performance.
•    Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
•    Proven leadership in staff training, development, and performance management.
•    Proficiency in MS Office, Compass tools .
•    Certification in Food Safety, WHMIS, and Allergen Awareness.
•    Degree or diploma in Hospitality, Business, or related field preferred.
•    Fluently bilingual in English and French.
