Salary range for this position is $70,200 - $74,100.

This is a full time salaried role with 37.5 working hours bi-weekly

Anticipated start date: As soon as possible

Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may be entitled to other elements of total compensation, which may include group benefits, employer RRSP contributions, and discretionary bonus or incentive programs, where applicable to the role. Job Summary

How you will make an impact:
You will be responsible for assisting the Manager on duty in providing supervision and training to all staff in Patient Food Services.

As a Patient Food Services Supervisor, you will:

1. Food Production & Service
•    Plan, organize, and supervise meal preparation and service to ensure menus meet nutritional guidelines, resident preferences, and therapeutic diet requirements.
•    Ensure portion control, presentation, and food quality standards are consistently maintained.
•    Monitor and adjust meal service to accommodate resident needs, dietary changes, and feedback.
•    Assist in menu planning in collaboration with Registered Dietitians.
2. Staff Supervision & Training
•    Supervise dietary staff, including cooks, dietary aides, and dishwashers, to ensure efficient kitchen and dining room operations.
•    Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts.
•    Train, coach, and evaluate staff performance, fostering a positive and supportive team environment.
•    Ensure staff adherence to infection control, food safety, and occupational health standards.
3. Compliance & Safety
•    Maintain compliance with Public Health, Ministry of Long-Term Care, and other regulatory bodies’ standards.
•    Conduct regular food safety, sanitation, and temperature audits.
•    Ensure safe food handling practices and proper cleaning/sanitizing procedures are followed.
•    Participate in inspections and implement corrective actions as required.
4. Inventory & Budget Management
•    Monitor food, supply, and equipment inventories; place orders as needed while maintaining cost control.
•    Assist in managing the departmental budget and achieving cost-efficiency targets (e.g., raw food costs, waste reduction).
•    Track usage and reduce waste through effective forecasting and portioning.
5. Resident & Family Relations
•    Respond promptly and professionally to resident and family feedback or concerns related to food service.
•    Participate in resident care conferences to ensure dietary services align with care plans.
•    Promote a welcoming dining environment that enhances the residents’ quality of life.
6. Leadership & Collaboration
•    Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including nursing and recreation, to support resident well-being.
•    Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, accountability, and a commitment to resident-centered care.
•    Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and quality improvement initiatives.

 

About you:

  • Required Education: Completion of secondary school. Completion of a community college program in food service administration, hotel and restaurant management or related discipline or several years of experience in food preparation or service.
  • Required Experience: At least one year of relevant experience.
  • Languages: English essential.
  • Other
    • You must have a valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent
    • Current active status as Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM) is an asset.
    • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in supervising a diverse team in healthcare environment preferred
    • Comprehensive health and safety knowledge and training
    • Employee relations experience in a unionized environment is an asset
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office

Workplace Information: On site at long-term care homes and/or hospital location. Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
