Job Summary
Now, if you were to come on board as our Health, Safety and Ergonomic Programs Specialist, we’d ask you to do the following for us:
• Develop and continuously enhance our Health and Safety programs in accordance with legislative requirements and industry best practices for all of Compass Group Canada’s operations
• Contribute to a variety projects and initiatives to improve our Health and Safety Program
• Provide training materials on newly developed safety content to successfully launch changes in our Health and Safety program to our operations
• Assist operations with remote support on our HSQA Program through our Safety Service Centre
• Assist with Compass Group Canada’s ergonomic program including conducting ergonomic assessments and providing solutions to operations
• Utilize new technology or external vendors to improve ergonomic assessment abilities at an operational level
• Complete risk assessments on equipment, tasks and processes within the business
• Develop and update risk management’s intranet using SharePoint Online, Power Automate and Power Apps
• Assist with digital document control using SharePoint document libraries
• Interact with external stakeholders such as regulators, clients, safety associations, etc., in person, as well as via phone and email
• Make recommendations for improvements around health and safety and other support functions
• Provide site visit support when required to get feedback on released safety content for continuous improvement
Think you have what it takes to be our Health, Safety and Ergonomic Programs Specialist? We’re committed to hiring the best talent for the role. Here’s how we’ll know you are the best fit:
• Post-secondary education in Health and Safety Management or related field with Occupational H&S Certificate
• Specialized training or education in Ergonomics or Kinesiology is required
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in OH&S role
• CRSP/CHSC designation an asset, but not required
• Accredited audit designation an asset
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required
• Experience with Canva, Power Automate, Power Apps, SharePoint Online, Origami Risk Platform, PowerBI and Microsoft Teams would be an asset
• Thorough understanding of risk assessment and Health & Safety Management Systems
• A general understanding of industrial hygiene, hazardous and noxious substances, air quality, mechanical and electrical hazards, noise, and environmental testing
• Team player who enjoys cross-training to provide continuous support to operations
• Working knowledge of all applicable laws, regulations and standards is an asset
• Ability to manage own work independently and effectively, by prioritizing work schedules and completing assigned duties within timelines
• French language skills would be an asset, but are not required
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle for site visit support
• Hybrid position with the expectation that you are present in the office 2 days a week if there is a local office
• Ability to travel required
