Job Summary

This Category Development Manager – Fleet & Travel Services will manage the growth and development of Non-Food categories for the different channels we support. Primarily responsible and accountable for vendor management including implementation of tactics and managing processes that create competitive advantage in the marketplace for customers of Foodbuy.
The Category Development Manager has responsibility for strategic oversight/management of assigned category business plans. In this role, Foodbuy's Category Development Managers are expected to own the categories to drive end to end value for internal and external stakeholders. 


•    Conduct industry analysis to develop 3 year category management strategy in conjunction with key internal business partners to meet/exceed company and customer business needs
•    In conjunction with the key business stakeholders, support all activities related to negotiating, evaluating, selecting and executing preferred supplier contracts
•    Provide industry expertise to assist customers for each assigned category 
•    Develop long-term relationships with strategic suppliers and distributors
•    Establish & maintain a master contract management system for all vendors within scope
•    Identify preferred supplier/distributor pool
•    Responsible for development of comprehensive strategy reports to present to Senior Management
•    Identify, design and execute cost savings projects within assigned categories
•    Provide operational support to the category procurement initiatives and seek to add value to local procurement activities by developing processes which support the overall strategy
•    Proactively research and communicate market intelligence to our customers for each assigned category 
•    Manage the day to day relationship of 3rd party fleet management company
•    Procurement of all vehicles and coordinating on a yearly basis agreements with both OEM vehicle manufacturers and leasing/rental vendors
•    Working across multiple business lines and different corporate departments to make sure the Compass Group USA Fleet is operational, safe and compliant.
•    Manage and develop one direct report



•    3+ years of category management experience preferred in a matrix organization required, with experience in Fleet, Travel, Freight a plus
•    Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required
•    Familiarity with food and delivery service is a plus
•    Proven leader with excellent management and communication skills. Ability to build and maintain senior level relationships both internally and externally
•    Ability to develop and implement strategic plans
•    Broad Supply Chain experience a plus, including project management, cost containment, cost avoidance, risk mitigation, and logistics
•    Proven track record of ability to influence across functional, including conflict resolution
•    Strong networking skills, ability to act proactively and get things done through informal as well as formal channels
•    Experience in managing a P&L or budget, and delivering on plan results.
•    Outstanding presentation skills and selling skills to manage implementation of key programs
•    High proficiency level with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
•    Ability to travel up to 10% annually
