Job Summary

The Category Development Manager - IT Telecom for Foodbuy will support key strategic category projects development with Stakeholders (STG/Strategic Projects, CBM) for identified and assigned categories (Information Technology/Systems) to drive cost savings and to support growth while ensuring the Company best value purchasing decisions.  This position is a cross-functional role in supporting Sourcing and Category Development for cost savings opportunities and efficiency, developing relationship with suppliers and influencing stakeholders, leading the process of requesting supplier information, working with project teams on proposals and quotes (“RFP”), evaluating, negotiating and supporting implementation of contracts, managing / tracking supplier performance, building strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.  Individual in this position has strong analytical, category development, project management, communication (written and verbal), decision-making and supplier management skills.


•    Support project cost savings targets
•    Identify cost savings and category maximization opportunities for committed members and Sectors through analysis of market trends, spend, financials, total cost of ownership analyses and risk assessments
•    Develop and execute strategic category plans and joint business plans with strategic partners
•    Work to understand gaps in category from Sectors and Customers/Committed Members (with CBMs) and work to close gaps while ensuring growth with contracted partners.
•    Support creation of business cases / value propositions for identified opportunities with stakeholders
•    Communicate and present opportunities to influence and build internal support among clients and stakeholders
•    Identify purchasing/contracting needs of internal/external clients
•    Build and maintain relationships with internal/external clients and key stakeholders, such as STG, Strategic Project, Legal and Committed Members (with CBMs)
•    Participate actively in cross-functional teams to evaluate supplier performance, including performance scorecard against established SLA’s.
•    Establish and maintain supplier relationships
•    Manage supplier with stakeholders for service improvement and corrective actions as required.
•    Maintain telecommunications industry, professional category development & supply knowledge, stay up-to-date on industry trends


•    3-5 years of sourcing or procurement experience and category development
•    5-7 years of relevant work experience
•    Bachelor's degree required preferably in Business, Finance, Supply Chain or related field
•    Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of entire supply chain, category management, strategic sourcing, negotiations and contracting concepts.
•    Demonstrated ability to operate in cross-functional teams and facilitate cross-functional meetings (internal and external)
•    Demonstrated ability to influence decision makers through creating value propositions and effective communication skills (oral, written & presentation)
•    Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities through data and financial analysis, risk assessments and process reviews
•    Demonstrated ability to successfully support and manage projects
•    Continuous improvement skills 
•    Demonstrated successful experiences in negotiating agreements
•    Demonstrated problem solving capability through using fact-based decision making and applying out-of-the-box thinking while assessing the implications of the decision
•    Knowledge of and experience of Contract Management and Development 
•    Knowledge of the telecommunications or wireless industry 
•    Proficiency with Windows and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
•    Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
