Job Summary

The Manager, Union Benefits will manage activities related to company sponsored benefits at union organized locations.  This includes managing a non-exempt staff who work with associates at all levels in the Labor Relations Department on the benefit language in new and ongoing union contracts, maintaining SAP functionality necessary to support the benefit administration and payroll functions, working with benefit administrators to create automated benefit enrollment processes that insure compliance in the most cost effective manner.   

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Management of benefit programs for associates covered by Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA’s)
  • Strategic contact for LR team for Compass benefit programs and administration, including identificaiton of contracts with upcoming contract renewals that allow automation through web platforms
  • Interface with the Union Accounting team to insure consistency and avoid gaps and overlaps
  • Responsible for data audits and corrections related to union benefit programs
  • Management of non-exempt support staff

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze information and offer solutions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
  • Excellent organizational and follow through skills
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Strong Microsoft knowledge in Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint
  • SAP knowledge preferred

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years of relevant Benefit, HR or Union administration experience;
  • Previous management of direct reports
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience with SAP HR software and Microsoft products preferred
