Job Summary


The SAFETY MANAGER is responsible for site safety. Accountable for the overall safety behaviors of the account. Operates the department in accordance with the approved Quality Assurance standards and Loss Prevention methods, while providing the Client with a safety first facility.  The Safety Manager will be responsible for reducing claims and lost time injuries by providing safety and workers compensation support to the local units.  The support provided will include:  Training; Site visits/ inspection; implementation of policies and procedures; measurement; Communication, and compliance with client requirements.  

  1. Provides strong leadership and direction in the implementation of the company’s EHS goals, policies and directives per the contracted scope of work. 
  2. Works directly with the company account EHS Manager, Facility EHS Business Partner and Customer EHS staff to plan, analyze and assess compliance for purposes of maintaining existing programs and developing future EHS strategies.
  3. Evaluates and analyzes incidents and related trends on the account and works to establish root causes and implements associated preventative measures.
  4. Oversees the management of work-related incidents on the account and the application of cost containment measures where appropriate.
  5. Oversees site EHS audits and inspections to evaluate EHS program effectiveness and compliance on the account.  Works with facility operations and account safety professionals to develop and implement actions to improve site safety and environmental performance.  
  6. Oversees strict subcontractor adherence and compliance to the company and customer EHS requirements and specifications. 
  7. Oversees the development and implementation of all EHS training for the account.
  8. Provides strong working experience with, but not limited to, LOTO, fall protection, electrical safety, permit-to-work applications, hazardous waste management, hearing conservation, confined space entry, emergency action planning, chemical product management, walking-working surfaces, ergonomics, food and kitchen safety, etc.
  9. Ensures all EHS contractual obligations and customer expectations are being met.
  10. Self-starter. Ability to work with minimal supervision in a highly matrixed customer environment.

Prior Experience required in:

  • Process Safety environment
  • Contractor Safety
  • Behavior Based Safety
  • Audits
  • EH&S Compliance
  • Control of Work


  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Solid understanding of health and safety processes and procedures in compliance and case management with food service, janitorial, and landscaping activities
  • OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certified required
  • experience managing employee safety at a contract level in a chemical plant or O&G refining
  • 5-8 years experience
  • Customer Service

  • Ability to work in a matrix organization with multiple work streams
