Job Summary
Working as the Sous Chef at Capital One Landing at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), you will support the successful operation of the Culinary Department in a unique, elevated airport dining environment.
You will assist with the supervision, preparation, and cooking of high-quality menu items while maintaining exceptional standards for food quality, presentation, consistency, sanitation, and guest experience.
You will work closely with the Executive Chef to execute menus, oversee daily culinary production, assist with ordering and inventory, and provide leadership and direction to hourly culinary associates. This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic, hands-on, and entrepreneurial culinary professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while delivering upscale restaurant-quality cuisine and hospitality.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on, passionate culinary leader with strong kitchen management experience and a commitment to quality, creativity, and hospitality. You will help lead and develop the culinary team, maintain exceptional food and safety standards, support menu development and new culinary initiatives, and create an outstanding dining experience for every guest.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists the Executive Chef with daily culinary operations and team supervision
- Oversees food preparation, production, cooking, garnishment, and presentation
- Assists with managing food costs, cost controls, and account expenditures
- Assists with menu planning, development, and execution
- Coaches, develops, and provides direction to culinary associates
- Maintains high standards for food quality, consistency, sanitation, and food safety
- Supports ordering, inventory, production planning, and waste controls
- Executes high-volume food production while maintaining upscale culinary standards
- Supports new culinary programs in partnership with Company culinary and marketing teams
- Helps deliver an exceptional culinary and hospitality experience for every guest
Preferred Qualifications:
- A.S. in Culinary Arts or equivalent culinary experience
- Progressive culinary and/or kitchen management experience
- Upscale restaurant, fine dining, premium hospitality, or elevated foodservice experience preferred
- High-volume, complex foodservice operations experience highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food production, and batch cooking
- Comprehensive knowledge of food trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop culinary team members
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, email, and internet applications
- Willingness to participate in client and guest satisfaction programs and activities
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs
- ServSafe certification highly desirable
