Job Summary
Position Summary
The Catering Supervisor – Décor & Event Presentation is responsible for elevating the visual and experiential quality of catered events through thoughtful décor, creative food presentation, and intentional design. This role focuses on transforming event spaces by adding dimension, elevation, and cohesive styling using décor elements such as vases, florals, signage, linens, risers, and creative food displays while ensuring alignment with event themes, branding, and client expectations.
This position works closely with operations, culinary, and service teams to ensure décor and food presentation enhance the overall guest experience without compromising functionality, safety, or service flow.
Key Responsibilities
Décor & Event Styling Design and execute décor concepts that elevate the look and feel of events, including buffets, action stations, receptions, and plated dinners
Create visual interest through elevation, layering, and balanced spacing
Select and style vases, flowers (fresh or faux), signage, risers, trays, and display pieces
Ensure décor aligns with event theme, seasonality, client branding, and venue standards
Collaborate with culinary and service teams to enhance food presentation and station design
Style creative food displays using appropriate vessels, props, and garnish techniques
Ensure all displays remain guest-friendly, replenishable, and compliant with food safety standards
Setup, Execution & Breakdown
Lead décor setup prior to events and oversee proper placement and execution
Ensure décor is installed efficiently without disrupting service flow or timelines
Supervise breakdown, inventory, and proper storage of décor items post-event
Planning & Organization
Review BEOs and event details to plan décor needs in advance
Source décor items internally or externally while being mindful of budget and reuse opportunities
Maintain décor inventory, ensuring items are clean, organized, and event-ready
Leadership & Collaboration
Direct and support event staff during décor setup and execution
Communicate clearly with managers, chefs, and service teams regarding décor plans and adjustments
Train team members on basic décor standards, setup techniques, and presentation expectations
Standards & Quality Control
Maintain high aesthetic standards while adhering to operational and safety guidelines
Ensure décor does not obstruct guest flow, egress, or service access
Conduct final walkthroughs to confirm décor and food presentation meet expectations
Qualifications
Experience in catering, event operations, hospitality, or event styling preferred
Strong creative eye for design, balance, and visual presentation
Hands-on experience with décor elements such as florals, vases, signage, risers, and creative displays
Ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume event environments
Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail
Strong communication and leadership skills
Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of event trends, food styling, and presentation techniques
Experience working with large venues, stadiums, or high-volume catering operations
Ability to conceptualize ideas quickly and execute them efficiently
Comfort working within budgets and reusing décor creatively
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry décor items (up to 25–40 lbs) Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move for extended periods during event setup and execution
