Salary:  $65,000 - $75,000 / year

Job Summary

The Senior Executive Chef leads all culinary operations for the campus dining program at Spelman College. This role is responsible for delivering high quality, on trend food across retail, residential dining, and catering while ensuring operational efficiency, food safety, and cost control. The Senior Executive Chef oversees menu development, purchasing, inventory management, budgeting, food cost controls, and the training and development of the culinary team.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all culinary operations including retail, residential dining, and catering
• Develop and execute innovative, seasonal menus aligned with campus needs and trends
• Ensure high standards for food quality, presentation, safety, and sanitation
• Manage high volume production, catering execution, inventory, purchasing, budgeting, and food cost controls to meet financial targets
• Recruit, train, and develop culinary team members, providing clear direction and inspirational leadership
• Foster a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement within the culinary team
• Support campus initiatives related to sustainability, wellness, and corporate social responsibility
• Analyze operational performance and implement continuous improvement strategies
• Maintain strong client and customer engagement, with full knowledge of daily menu offerings

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Culinary degree preferred
• Three to five years of culinary management experience
• Proven experience in high volume production and catering
• Strong background in cost control, budgeting, and inventory management
• Demonstrated leadership and team development skills
• Passion for innovation, quality, and continuous growth within a foodservice organization
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, email, and internet applications
• Ability to communicate effectively with leadership, clients, and frontline associates
• ServSafe Certification required
