Job Summary
The District Manager (Alaska) leads Compass Group’s remote, offshore defense catering and janitorial operations with a focus on ownership, accountability, and excellence across all sites. This role drives our five-pillar framework, Quality, Safety, Growth, Innovation, and Culture, while ensuring client satisfaction, strong financial performance, and a high-caliber workforce. The District Manager will model professional communication, escalate issues promptly to senior management, and upholds all company policies and standards.
Key Responsibilities

- Ensure consistent quality, safety, service delivery, and operational efficiency at every site.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to raise performance, reduce risk, and enhance client outcomes.

- Talent leadership and retention:

- Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain top talent; develop leadership pipelines; create a culture that values high performance, safety, and engagement.
- Establish and oversee training programs; provide ongoing development and succession planning.

- Financial leadership and governance:

- Read, interpret, and act on P&L statements; manage forecasts, budgets, and cost controls.
- Oversee capital deployment, proforma development, CPI considerations, labor management, and purchasing compliance.
- Ensure accurate financial records, timely reporting, and fiscal discipline across the district.

- Client governance and satisfaction:

- Maintain strong client relationships; conduct governance cadence with senior management as defined; deliver on client requirements and service levels.
- Implement feedback loops to drive operational improvements and align with client expectations.

- Maintain HACCP-compliant safety and sanitation standards; audit readiness and adherence to all regulatory requirements.
- Enforce company policies, timekeeping accuracy, and compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.

- Labor Management: Optimize staffing levels, productivity, and labor costs; ensure fair and compliant employment practices.
- Purchasing Compliance: Enforce purchasing policies and supplier standards; maintain audit-ready records.
- Safety and Audit: Maintain HACCP compliance; prepare for and respond to internal and external audits.
- Timekeeping and Company Policies: Adhere to time clock usage; comply with all company policies and regulatory requirements.
Client Satisfaction and Communication

- Client Outcomes: Ensure client satisfaction through reliable service, responsive issue resolution, and proactive governance.
- Reporting and Communication: Read, write, and speak professionally in all business communications; maintain clear, timely, and professional documentation and reporting.
- Issue Escalation: Immediately raise any issues or concerns to senior management with recommended corrective actions.
Financial and Compliance Standards

- Supervisory Scope: Oversee up to 10 subordinate supervisors and up to 150 employees across multiple sites.
- Development: Mentor, coach, and evaluate district leaders; drive performance improvements and accountability.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Vice President – Operations and other stakeholders to implement strategic initiatives and governance.

Workload, Hours, and Presence

- Schedule: Work the hours necessary to complete duties; be in the office five days a week unless traveling to remote sites necessitates otherwise.
- Travel: Frequent travel to remote site operations; willingness to be onsite to supervise, support, and verify operations.
Qualifications
-
- Minimum three years’ experience managing large-scale food service/contract operations; offshore/remote experience preferred.
- ServSafe certification and HACCP knowledge.
- Strong financial acumen: forecasting, budgeting, P&L management, cost controls.
- Menu development experience; strong proficiency with data analytics and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; professional business vocabulary.
- Ability to travel frequently and work in demanding environments; valid passport may be required.
