Job Summary
The Sous Chef is responsible for supporting all aspects of the culinary operation, ensuring the quality, consistency, and presentation of food meet Compass Group standards and client expectations. This role assists with menu development, ordering, inventory, production, and daily kitchen operations. The Sous Chef also plays a key role in leading, training, and motivating back-of-house staff to deliver an exceptional dining experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist with food preparation, cooking, and service across various stations.
• Support menu planning and the rollout of new culinary programs.
• Maintain cost controls and monitor inventory and expenditures.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and quality standards.
• Supervise, coach, and train kitchen staff to uphold operational excellence.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years of culinary experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or management role.
• Experience in restaurant, hospitality, education, healthcare, or related foodservice environments.
• Strong knowledge of food trends, production, cost control, sanitation, and safety.
• Proven leadership and team development skills.
• ServSafe or Department of Health certification preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
• Associate degree in Culinary Arts preferred.
