Job Summary

Billings Public Schools is seeking an Operations Kitchen Supervisor to help support dining operations that serve 34 schools with more than 16,000 K-12 students enrolled. Reporting directly to the Resident District Manager, this role oversees a production kitchen with multiple satellite school ship-out locations, ensuring the timely preparation, distribution, and service of high-quality meals. The Secondary Kitchen Supervisor will work from one of the elementary schools and assist in managing food ordering, inventory, production schedules, and compliance with all food safety and sanitation regulations while occasionally supporting catering functions and special events. This position may also assist with cashiering responsibilities and cash handling as needed.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, people-focused leader who can effectively supervise and develop a team of up to eight Food Service Workers within their assigned school site. As a member of the district management team, this individual must be able to lead, coach, and work with employees at an elevated level while fostering a positive, accountable, and service-focused culture. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, balances operational excellence with strong relationship-building skills, and is committed to delivering an exceptional dining experience for students, staff, and the school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures optimal customer service and client satisfaction
  • Provides cost effective management that meets and exceeds stated expectations
  • Assists in the responsibility for all operational activities including quality improvement, sanitation, infection control and all facility-related activities
  • Follows health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree, or comparable experience preferred
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Supervisory, leadership, management and coaching skills.
  • Communication skills both written and verbal and ability to communicate with management, client, customer and associate levels.
  • The ability to multi-task and establish priorities
  • Exhibit initiative, sense of urgency, responsibility, flexibility and leadership
