Salary:  $120,000 - $125,000

Other Forms of Compensation: Bonus Eligible

Job Summary

Working as a Director of Operations with Compass Group gives you the opportunity to lead with purpose, grow a dynamic team, and create exceptional experiences for the Binghamton University community. With 20+ retail locations across campus, this role is ideal for an innovative, people‑first food service leader who thrives in a fast‑paced, student‑focused environment.

 

About the Role
As the Retail Director, you will oversee a large-scale, multi‑unit dining operation while maintaining the highest standards of quality, service, and profitability. You’ll partner closely with campus leadership, energize diverse teams, and drive excellence across all retail food venues.
Your mission is to deliver superior service, strong financial performance, and an outstanding campus dining experience.

 

Key Responsibilities:


Lead Strategic Planning:
Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and operational plans to ensure financial success across all retail outlets.


Elevate Quality & Experience:
Maintain and implement Compass Group quality standards in food, service, safety, and brand consistency across all locations.


Ensure Compliance:
Uphold all company, regional, and account programs—including safety, sanitation, HR practices, and operational policies.


Drive Operational Excellence:
Oversee reporting accuracy, inventory management, labor optimization, vendor partnerships, and campus relationship management.


Champion Team Growth:
Lead, coach, and develop management and frontline teams to build a culture of engagement, accountability, and performance.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of foodservice management experience
  • Required experience in Higher Education—including both board operations and retail dining
  • Proven expertise in P&L management and contract‑managed services
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to thrive in a high‑volume, multi‑unit, student‑centric environment
