Job Summary

As the Vice President of Operations, you will champion a dynamic and student-focused dining experience that inspires, evolves, and reflects the vibrant culture of the campus community. You’ll serve as the driving force behind operational excellence, relationship building, and transformative dining solutions.
What You’ll Lead & Accomplish
Set the Culture & Inspire Teams
- Create a transparent, accountable, and energizing culture for all team members on campus.
- Lead with influence to ensure clarity, safety, education, and alignment across all levels.
Elevate the Student & Guest Experience
- Collaborate with campus partners to design a holistic, engaging dining program that elevates student life.
- Ensure every interaction and meal contributes to a memorable, community-driven experience.
Drive Results with Purpose
- Oversee all operational pillars including:
- Guest satisfaction, financial performance, culinary excellence, purchasing, sustainability, wellness, marketing, regulatory compliance, and more.
- Lead strategic planning and business reviews to exceed Chartwells KPIs and client expectations.
Lead High-Performing Teams
- Champion talent development, succession planning, coaching, and performance management.
- Understand and support every role that makes our dining ecosystem thrive.
Build Impactful Partnerships
- Cultivate strong relationships at all levels of the client organization.
- Detect emerging trends, address evolving needs, and introduce innovative programs that surprise and delight.
- Strengthen local vendor relationships with a commitment to MWBE partnerships and sustainable, community-focused sourcing.
Be the Strategic Connector
- Communicate progress, challenges, and opportunities to clients—always anticipating the next big idea.
- Ensure full P&L accountability and responsible oversight of resources, people, and service excellence.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Campus dining experience or comparable hospitality leadership background, and catering experience.
- Proven ability to interpret policies, contracts, and complex operational needs.
- Passion for community engagement and building diverse, equitable supply chains.
- 10–15 years of progressive hospitality leadership experience; higher education experience strongly preferred.
- Experience overseeing $40M+ total managed volume.
- Background in personnel management including hiring, evaluations, union relations, and succession planning.
