Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cook to participate in a fast-paced grab and go kitchen environment. A Cook in the position will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of meals, ensuring that the food is of high quality, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking, excellent culinary skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

To succeed in this role, a cook must be able to follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals. They must be deft in moving around the kitchen and apt in multi-tasking. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is also important. This position requires schedule flexibility and requires availability during all major holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities

This is not an exhaustive list. The items below are primary duties. All other duties assigned by leadership are expected to be completed as requested.

  • Greets, directs and responds to guest questions and needs in a timely manner
  • Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions
  • Serves meals by using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature
  • Ensures proper presentation, portion control and maintenance of serving temperatures; follows HACCP standards.
  • Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures.
  • Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat. Ensures food and supply items are stored per standards.
  • Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed.
  • Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
  • Attends in-service and safety meetings.
  • Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
  • Personal commitment to your own safety and that of others.
  • Abides by all Company policies and procedures including but not limited to:
    • The use of a medium weight cut gloves when handling or using knives, peelers, choppers, mandolins or cleaning a slicer.
    • The use of oven mitts, fryer gloves or steamer gloves when handling hot pans from ovens, warmers or steamtables.
    • The use of slip-resistant shoes and proper lifting techniques.
  • Ensure the venue is always Show Ready (Clean, sanitary in accordance with County Health Inspectors and Diversey Inspector Lists)
  • Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers.
  • Work closely with the Cashiers to ensure quality food presentations for all guests

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a cook in a restaurant environment
  • Experience in using cutting tool, cookware and other kitchen equipment
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.)
  • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures per company and county guidelines
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Great communication skills
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
