Job Summary

Join the culinary team behind one of Boston’s most iconic cultural institutions! Restaurant Associates is seeking a dedicated and creative Banquet Chef to lead our dynamic catering kitchen at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

Manage events from small gatherings to large-scale affairs for various audiences.

 

In this role you will supervise and participate in food preparation and quality, physical maintenance and inventory functions to ensure high quality standards, safety, and revenue goals are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and participate in food preparation and ensure outstanding quality and presentation standards across all events.
  • Assist in the creation of menus and propose innovative culinary concepts to delight diverse audiences.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to production processes and kitchen operations.
  • Uphold strict compliance with ServeSafe sanitation, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate culinary management tasks including inventory, ordering, and receiving.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in menu development, cost controls, and purchasing, with a strong focus on sourcing and applying local and balanced food products.
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency for both plated and buffet service styles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the catering operation.

Qualifications:

  • Culinary degree required; Associate’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant culinary experience, ideally in high-volume production and catering environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of food and catering trends, with an emphasis on quality, production efficiency, sanitation, food cost controls, and modern presentation techniques.
  • Innovative attitude and passion for providing memorable dining experiences.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to thrive under pressure.
  • Desire to work with an industry leader in hospitality and culinary innovation preferred.
