General Description:

In this role, you will work closely with the Marketing Manager to implement and promote the dining program here at Northeastern University. We are looking for a Marketing Intern who is creative, culturally in-tune, and passionate about storytelling and digital engagement. In this role, you will support and execute our social media strategy across platforms, help to bring our brand's voice to life through compelling content, facilitate meaningful community interaction, and make data-informed decisions. 

 

This is a hands-on opportunity ideal for an undergraduate student looking to build real-world experience in social media marketing, content creation, and brand strategy. You'll play an active role in shaping how we connect with our target market — from crafting scroll-stopping videos and graphics to engaging directly with our audience and representing our brand at events. 

 

The Requirements:

• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

• Excellent interpersonal skills

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Customer service experience/knowledge

• Interest in storytelling, content creation, and digital marketing strategy

• Strong understanding of social media platforms and an intuitive awareness of emerging trends within the college-aged demographic

• General knowledge of graphic design and video editing tools

• General knowledge of social media analytics tools

• Event planning/execution is a plus 

 

Job Responsibilities (May include any or all):

• Work with the Marketing Manager to execute and continuously refine social media strategy, focusing on content creation across a variety of platforms (including Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook)

• Assist in social media calendar development and posting on all social media feeds

• Monitor and engage with the community on social media by responding to comments, direct messages, and conversations across social media platforms 

• Create and edit videos with a focus on dining locations on campus, special events, food and nutrition trends, and sustainability

• Track and report on social media analytics (reach, engagement, follower growth)

• Create marketing materials to numerous specifications

• Surveying students to collect marketing research

• Act as a brand representative

• Support the marketing team in event planning, organizing, and hosting as needed 

 

Learning Objectives:

• Develop the communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills necessary to thrive in a professional and diverse workplace environment

• Learn how to effectively promote a brand through storytelling, community engagement, and multi-platform digital marketing

• Build proficiency in content creation, including video editing and graphic design, tailored to brand objectives 

 

This is a paid intern position; however, it is not eligible for paid time off (PTO) or benefits such as medical, dental, vision, etc.

Because this position requires you to perform services in an educational facility, there may be periods when the Company does not require you to perform work (such as winter and summer breaks when food service needs decline or cease). Any such periods during which you do not perform work on the Company’s behalf may be unpaid and deemed a temporary layoff. However, depending on business needs, you may be required to work year-round, potentially at a different location during break periods.  Business needs may vary from year to year.
