Overview

We are seeking a Microsoft Platform Engineer to join the newly formed Microsoft Platform Governance Team (MPGT). This role will focus on managing and optimizing enterprise usage of Microsoft Defender for Office (MDO), Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), and core M365 licensing capabilities. You’ll play a critical part in supporting security, compliance, and operational excellence across Compass Group’s Microsoft ecosystem. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of security, platform architecture, and enterprise licensing governance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. MDO (Defender for Office) Administration

• Maintain and configure policies in MDO to ensure phishing/spam protection

• Partner with Security to review policy, incidents, refine detections, and respond to escalations

• Provide reporting on policy effectiveness and user impact

 

  1. Entra ID / Azure AD Integration

• Manage app registrations, conditional access policies, and SSO integrations

• Support lifecycle management of enterprise applications via Entra ID

• Align Entra governance with Teams and Microsoft 365 app rollouts

 

  1. Microsoft Licensing Governance

• Monitor usage, cost, and entitlement of M365, Azure, and Power Platform licenses • Work with procurement and finance to track renewals and optimization opportunities

• Support EA (Enterprise Agreement) alignment and Unified Support tracking

 

       Collaboration Areas

• Platform Engineers: Collaborate on integrations, automation, and Teams app enablement

• Support / Escalation Leads: Partner on readiness and incident flows

• Security Stakeholders: Coordinate on DLP, MDO tuning, and identity governance

• Finance & Procurement Partners: Align on true-ups, budgeting, and license forecasting

Qualifications

Required:

• 3+ years of experience with Microsoft 365 platform administration

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD and Microsoft Defender for Office

• Familiarity with Microsoft licensing models (M365 E5/E3, Power Platform, etc.)

• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills

• Experience with compliance, governance, or platform operations

 

Preferred:

• PowerShell scripting or Microsoft Graph API experience

• Knowledge of Microsoft 365 DLP, compliance center, or Purview tools

• Familiarity with EA / Unified Support models
