Job Summary

Chartwells Higher Education is looking for a motivated, hands-on leader to join our team as a Food and Beverage Manager for an exciting new pub opening at Xavier University.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a grand opening and help establish one of the campus's newest gathering spots. You'll lead daily operations, drive financial success, build and develop your team, and create an exceptional guest experience from day one. You'll be responsible for ensuring compliance with contract requirements, Health Department regulations, and company standards while maintaining the highest levels of food quality, freshness, and presentation.
The schedule is Wednesday through Sunday from 4:00 PM to 1:00 AM, placing you at the center of the pub's busiest and most energetic hours. To make those late nights easier, there's a dedicated parking lot located right next to the venue, and campus security is available to escort you to your vehicle after each shift.

If you enjoy leading teams, thrive in a fast-paced hospitality environment, and want to play a key role in launching a brand-new campus destination, this may be the role for you!

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of Xavier's newest campus pub, including special events, staffing, payroll, and cash management.
  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop a team that delivers an outstanding guest experience.
  • Create a welcoming environment that drives customer satisfaction and builds strong relationships across the campus community.
  • Ensure all operations are executed according to company standards for service, presentation, safety, and quality.
  • Train team members on customer service, food safety, alcohol services, sanitation, cashiering, and operational best practices.
  • Monitor business performance and complete operational, financial, and payroll reporting in a timely manner.
  • Partner with team members, clients, and students to continuously enhance the guest experience.
  • Maintain strong cash-handling and loss-prevention practices to protect company assets and ensure operational integrity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of restuarant management experience with a passion for leading teams and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
  • Experience overseeing high-volume retail or hospitality operations, including cash handling and daily financial management.
  • Strong understanding of food service trends, quality standards, food safety, sanitation, and cost control practices.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to hire, train, coach, and motivate a diverse team.
  • Experience managing budgets, financial performance, and P&L results is a plus.
  • Retail marketing experience and the ability to drive customer engagement are highly valued.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to connect effectively with team members, clients, and students.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office, email, and other business technology tools.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree is preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant management experience will also be considered.
