Job Summary
Safety & Security Manager
Location: Bay Area, California (On-site with travel across CA, OR, WA)
About Us
We are a leading food and beverage warehousing and distribution company. Safety, security, and food safety are core to how we operate. We are seeking a field-focused Safety & Security Manager to ensure safe, compliant operations across the Pacific Division.
Position Summary
This role executes and maintains safety, security, crisis response, and food safety programs across multiple sites. It is highly field-oriented with significant travel and reports to the VP of People Operations.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
- Implement safety programs in compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, WA L&I, OR OSHA, DOT.
- Conduct inspections, audits, and ensure corrective actions.
- Support incident investigations and maintain compliance documentation.
Security Oversight
- Manage physical security programs (access control, surveillance, theft prevention).
- Partner with Operations and HR on associate and facility safety.
Crisis Management
- Execute emergency response plans for natural disasters, workplace incidents, and security events.
- Assist with drills, training, and post-incident follow-up.
Food Safety
- Support food safety programs including sanitation, temperature control, allergen awareness.
- Conduct inspections and assist with audits and recalls.
Training & Support
- Deliver safety, security, and food safety training.
- Maintain visible presence at facilities and support site leaders.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate with Operations, HR, Risk, and corporate EHS.
- Communicate issues and escalate risks as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Food Safety, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years in safety, EHS, security, or food safety roles within warehousing/distribution.
- Experience managing safety programs across multiple sites.
- Ability to travel extensively (approx. 75%) across CA, OR, WA.
Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of OSHA and state safety regulations.
- Familiarity with food safety in warehouse/distribution settings.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation, and communication skills.
- Highly organized and able to manage priorities across multiple locations.
