INPATIENT- OUTPATIENT GI DIETITIAN

Location: Morrison Healthcare at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital

Setting: Level I Trauma Center Pediatric Hospital

Schedule: Monday- Friday with Rare Weekends

Requirement: Must be a Registered Dietitian with CDR with 2+ Years of Professional Experience in Acute Care. Must be able to obtain GI specialty certification or CSP within 6 months of hire

Position Details: RD will cover intestinal rehab unit working closely and collaborating with the attending MD and Pharmacist in a multidisciplinary setting to manage short guy/intestinal failure. RD will follow and manage patients ranging from infants/neonates to adolescents in both inpatient and outpatient setting. RD will need to be comfortable with TPN and EN management of patients as well as evaluating nutrition status, conducting NFPE's, and addressing nutrient deficiencies/manage intestinal dysfunction

 

Salary: $70,000- 90,000 based on years of practice and advanced certifications

Other Forms of Compensation: $2,500 Sign- On Bonus

Job Summary

We are seeking a Inpatient- Outpatient GI Dietiitan (Dietitian Specialist) to join our Nutrition Team in an MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital in Charleston, SC! Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital is South Carolina's only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center. Their gastroenterology and GI surgery departments have been ranked #30 in the nation by US News and World Report. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides nutrition services in identified specialty area. Specialty areas include nutrition support, pediatrics, gastrointestinal and outpatient services.  Assesses the nutritional status of patients through documentation in the medical record
  • Trains and mentor’s patient services staff and interns as applicable
  • Fosters teamwork and establishes effective strategies to implement innovative programs which leads to optimal clinical nutrition and financial outcomes
  • Complies with regulatory standards, including federal, state, and accrediting agencies while adhering to facility confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and patient rights policies
  • Participates in patient satisfaction programs, departmental meetings, and facility wide Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement programs

 
Qualifications:

  • Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
  • Licensed by the State Dietetics Licensing Board, in states where required
  • Two (2) years of experience in area of specialty required
  • Specialty certification when applicable
  • Possess the necessary skills to effectively utilize Microsoft applications, electronic medical record & diet office systems, and nutrient analysis programming
