Assistant General Manager - Charlette, NC

Salary:  $80,000 - $86,000 / year

Job Summary

Reporting to the General Manager and partnering with the Regional VP, the Assistant General Manager (AGM) helps lead campus-wide Facilities/Plant Operations & Maintenance. The AGM oversees daily operations, financials, and service quality while serving as a key campus liaison.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily POM operations (plus custodial/grounds, if applicable) with a focus on safety, reliability, and customer service

  • Develop and track annual plans and KPIs with the GM; take corrective actions to meet performance goals

  • Monitor financials: P&L, labor, materials, and work orders; forecast costs and report variances

  • Lead and coach on-site managers and frontline staff; support hiring, training, and development

  • Maintain strong campus relationships; proactively coordinate across departments

  • Ensure regulatory compliance (OSHA, AHJ); manage life safety systems, preventive maintenance, and CMMS accuracy

  • Support capital planning with asset condition and reliability data

  • Drive standardization and continuous improvement using metrics and root-cause analysis

  • Represent the site on committees and contribute to company initiatives

  • Stay current on industry trends; complete required training

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • 5–10 years in Facilities/POM leadership within large, complex settings

  • Higher education experience required

  • Strong budgeting, procurement, and vendor management skills

  • Clear communicator and effective cross-functional leader

  • Client-facing experience with a service-first mindset

  • Able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience with CMMS, maintenance programs, and KPI tracking

  • Safety-focused; credentials like CFM, FMP, CPMM, or LEED a plus
