Foodbuy Procurement Summer Internship Program 

The goal of Foodbuy’s Internship program is to provide an opportunity to engage in impactful projects acquiring hands-on data analytics experience across departments in the organization while balancing professional development and leadership growth sessions within a dynamic, hybrid work environment. You will be placed on a team supporting one of our departments, some examples are Category Development, Sourcing, Account Management, Distribution, Data Intelligence or Compliance.  

What are some highlights of the team I may be placed on? 

• Category Development is responsible for managing and growing their assigned categories and suppliers.  

• Sourcing negotiates trade agreements with vendors, monitors market changes, financial targets, first time contracts, and contract expirations. They also mitigate out of contract price increases and helps develops alternate sources of supply. 

• Compass Account Management is responsible for building strong relationships between Foodbuy and the Compass sectors or Members. 

• Data Intelligence ensures we receive purchase data and calculate rebates and other financial metrics so we can accurately bill suppliers. There are many sub-teams that all help in maintaining the integrity of our data. 

• Distribution manages the contracts and relationships between Foodbuy and our distribution partners. 

• Compliance helps drive procurement towards contracted items. 

In this internship program you can expect exposure to the below: 

• Learn about the Foodbuy supply chain network.  

• Assist in process improving, data driven solutions to improve the reliability of Foodbuy’s purchase data.   

• Involvement in special projects with cross-functional teams that support specific business initiatives.   

• Understand what role Supplier Diversity and Sustainability play into Foodbuy overall goals.  

• Gain exposure to all internal Foodbuy systems. 

• Meet with all Foodbuy departments to learn how they work together. 

• Attend off-site sector, supplier and manufacturer tours

Requirements: 

• Sophomore or Junior studying supply chain, finance, business, analytics or other relevant courses 

• Experience with Excel, Word, Outlook 

• Strong analytical and technical skills 

• Solid organizational and communication skills
