Job Summary:

Compass Group’s Corporate Communications team is seeking a versatile, creative professional to help shape and strengthen the brand of the nation’s largest foodservice company. The Manager, Brand Development plays a key role in defining how our brand shows up across all channels — visually, verbally, and experientially.

This role is ideal for a strong designer and creative thinker who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The right candidate brings a mix of agency-level creative skills, strategic brand awareness, and a willingness to jump in wherever needed. From developing campaigns and supporting change initiatives to refining brand assets and storytelling, this position combines creativity, flexibility, and execution excellence.

This hybrid position is based in Charlotte, NC. The successful candidate must be willing to work in the office three to four days per week, collaborating closely with executives and cross-functional teams. The role also includes travel to large corporate meetings and events in key markets and thriving cities — where the communications team supports content, production, and executive messaging.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a creative subject matter expert within Corporate Communications, helping to define and evolve Compass Group’s visual identity and brand voice across all platforms.
  • Conceptualize and design high-impact materials, including campaigns, presentations, digital content, internal communications, and executive reports. Ensure all work aligns with brand standards and organizational goals.
  • Oversee and maintain Compass Group USA’s website and select SharePoint sites, ensuring content is current, visually engaging, and aligned with brand standards.
  • Will at times be asked to write and edit clear, engaging content for a variety of audiences — from employees to executives — ensuring messaging aligns with brand and communication strategies.
  • Develop and design communication materials that support organizational initiatives, transformation, and change management — balancing creativity with clarity and empathy.
  • Partner closely with colleagues across Compass Group — including HR, Culinary, Operations, and Business Units — to deliver cohesive, strategic, and on-brand creative solutions.
  • Participate in select company meetings, leadership events, and major gatherings — traveling to exciting markets and cities to assist with creative content, production, and executive messaging.
  • Stay current on creative, communication, and cultural trends to keep Compass Group’s brand relevant and inspiring. Introduce new creative tools, design techniques, and storytelling approaches.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing shifting priorities while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines. Jump in to support team needs that may fall outside traditional creative work — embodying a “whatever it takes” attitude.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in creative communications, brand management, or graphic design. Agency experience strongly preferred; journalism or newsroom experience appreciated.
  • Strong visual designer with solid conceptual thinking, layout, and storytelling abilities.
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and PowerPoint; video editing and photography skills are a plus.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint, WordPress, and Google Analytics is preferred.
  • Flexible, proactive, and collaborative — thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys wearing multiple hats.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across teams and leadership levels.
  • Must be based in Charlotte, NC, with the ability to work in the office 3–4 days per week.
  • Willingness to travel several times per year to large corporate meetings and events — in exciting markets and thriving cities — to support executive communications, content, and production.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).

Who You Are:

  • A creative problem-solver with agency-quality design instincts and an eye for storytelling.
  • A team player who’s willing to roll up your sleeves and contribute wherever needed.
  • A strategic thinker who brings structure and imagination to every project.
  • A brand advocate who ensures every touchpoint reflects Compass Group’s purpose and professionalism.
  • A nimble, collaborative professional who thrives on both the creative and practical sides of communications work — and enjoys the energy of travel, teamwork, and innovation.
