Job Summary
Chartwells Higher Education is seeking a Director of Operational Excellence to support the execution of onboarding, training, and development initiatives across the sector. This role is responsible for developing, coordinating, and deploying learning solutions that strengthen skills, improve consistency, and support operational excellence across the organization. The Director will play a key role in translating strategic priorities into practical learning solutions and operational tools that support frontline teams, managers, and leaders. This position is highly tactical and project-focused, requiring strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously while driving work from development through implementation.
Success in this role requires strong collaboration, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively with partners across all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate will bring experience in learning and development, training execution, instructional design, or operational support, along with the ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment. This role offers flexibility in location with remote work capability.
Travel Requirements: Up to 40%
Key Responsibilities:
• Support the development and deployment of sector-wide training and development programs in partnership with leadership and subject matter experts
• Execute day-to-day priorities related to ChartwellsHQ, including content updates, learner engagement, course assignments, and platform coordination
• Develop and maintain learning materials that may include video, job aids, presentations, assessments, and interactive content
• Coordinate with internal partners and external vendors to support timely delivery of learning initiatives
• Assist in implementing learning solutions that align with operational priorities and business needs
• Maintain and update training resources to ensure content remains relevant, accurate, and accessible
• Help assess learning needs and recommend practical solutions to support operational effectiveness
• Support the creation of both technical and soft-skills learning experiences across multiple formats
• Track project milestones, deadlines, and deliverables to ensure successful execution of initiatives
• Communicate professionally and effectively with stakeholders across the organization
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Systems Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Technology, or related field
• 3–5 years of experience in education, learning and development, training, or a related field
• Experience developing learning content across multiple technology platforms, including mobile
• Experience supporting large-scale learning or operational initiatives in a multi-site environment
• Proficiency in e-learning and video development tools such as Synthesia, Articulate 360, and Camtasia
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and web conferencing platforms such as Webex and Microsoft Teams
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
