Salary: $145000 - $150000 / year
Other Forms of Compensation: 10% Bonus Opportunity

Job Summary
The Senior Director of Food & Workplace Safety will lead and oversee the strategic development, implementation, and continuous improvement of food safety and workplace safety programs for a sector within Compass Group North America's. This key leadership role will ensure the organization complies with all relevant regulatory standards and internal safety policies while maintaining the highest levels of safety across our food operations. The Senior Director will work cross-functionally with operations, quality assurance, human resources, and legal teams to drive a culture of safety and quality that aligns with the company’s overall objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Safety:
- Leadership: Develop and implement food safety strategies to meet or exceed industry standards (FDA, USDA, HACCP, FSMA).
- Compliance & Audits: Ensure adherence to food safety regulations, conduct audits, and address compliance gaps.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Monitor, analyze, and report on food safety metrics, trends, and KPIs to identify patterns and make data-driven improvements in food safety practices.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate food safety risks, investigate incidents, and lead corrective actions.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to enhance food safety practices, leveraging new technologies, certifications, and industry best practices to improve food safety outcomes.
Workplace Safety:
- Program Development: Oversee workplace safety programs aligned with applicable regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, DNV, Joint Commission, CMS and company goals.
- Safety Culture: Promote a safety-first culture, engage employees in safety initiatives.
- Incident Management: Lead investigations of workplace accidents, manage corrective actions.
- Safety programs: Enforce programs focused on reducing injuries and enhancing employee health, ensuring consistent application and compliance across teams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership:
- Operations Partnership: Work with operations to integrate safety goals into daily workflows.
- Communication: Provide regular updates to senior management and report to regulatory agencies.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor safety teams, ensuring high performance and collaboration.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Safety Management, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in food safety or workplace safety, with 5+ years in leadership roles.
- Strong experience in food safety regulations (HACCP, FSMA) and workplace safety (OSHA).
Skills & Competencies:
- Knowledge of food safety standards and workplace safety regulations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical skills to assess safety risks and implement solutions.
- Project management skills to handle multiple initiatives.
- High attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Certifications (preferred):
- Certified Food Safety Manager (ServSafe, NEHA, or equivalent).
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar.
- HACCP certification.
