Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Training and Administration is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and standardization of processes and training programs for the Environmental Services division of a local hospital. This role ensures compliance with regulatory agencies, drives innovation and safety initiatives, and collaborates with infection prevention teams to enhance patient safety and reduce hospital-acquired infections. The Assistant Director also focuses on employee engagement, retention, and data-driven decision-making to improve operational efficiency and organizational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement standardized workflows, policies, and procedures across all hospital campuses to ensure consistency, efficiency, and adherence to industry best practices.
- Design, develop, and oversee comprehensive EVS training programs for frontline staff and management teams, including onboarding, recertifications, and leadership development, ensuring alignment with corporate and regulatory standards.
- Monitor, track, and ensure compliance with internal company policies, OSHA, EPA, CDC, Joint Commission, and other regulatory agencies to mitigate risk and avoid penalties.
- Lead pilot programs and collaborate with external vendors and internal teams to evaluate and implement innovative, ergonomic, and sustainable solutions that enhance safety, efficiency, and overall performance in housekeeping operations.
- Partner with infection prevention teams to design and execute initiatives that reduce the risk of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs), including the integration of new technologies, enhanced cleaning protocols, and staff education programs.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase employee and manager engagement, reduce turnover, and foster a culture of accountability, motivation, and teamwork.
- Analyze operational and compliance data to identify trends, address client needs, and drive business improvement initiatives that align with the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Lead cross-functional teams to conduct safety audits, create action plans, and implement process improvements that align with Lean Six Sigma and other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Act as a key liaison between the EVS division, infection prevention, supply chain, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful implementation of department goals.
- Oversee and execute specialized projects and pilot initiatives to support the organization’s strategic goals, including technology integration and operational advancements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Four year college degree and/or equal related experience required.
- Six years of housekeeping management experience in a hospital or healthcare environment required.
- Must have the ability to analyze and interpret financial and other data.
- General business acumen.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- High customer service and quality attitude.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet established goals and objectives.
- Public speaking skills.
- Ability to utilize a participative approach to managing staff, to organize and prioritize tasks, and to develop budgets with a complete understanding of facility needs and requirements.
- Excellent stress management skills, administrative and organizational, and follow-through (with associates and clients) skills required.
- Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
