Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Environmental Services Training and Development is responsible for designing, managing, and continuously improving all aspects of staff development and compliance education within the EVS department. This includes onboarding, recertification, just-in-time coaching, specialized training programs, and documentation tracking. This role ensures regulatory readiness and operational excellence through comprehensive training and staff development systems that align with regulatory agencies and internal quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all training programs align with federal, state, and hospital regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS).
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of training requirements and translate them into staff programs and competencies.
- Partner with Infection Prevention, Quality, and HR to support survey readiness through staff education.
- Oversee the onboarding of all new hires, including EVS managers and frontline staff.
- Design and implement specialized training tracks for high-acuity areas.
- Lead manager training and leadership development initiatives to support long-term retention and promotion.
- Coordinate simulation lab and hands-on training schedules with training managers.
- Deploy just-in-time training for compliance gaps, audit findings, or recurring performance issues.
- Support targeted interventions for staff flagged through audit reports or leadership referrals.
- Develop rapid training modules and checklists to meet immediate operational needs.
- Maintain accurate employee training files, competency checklists, and recertification records.
- Ensure timely and complete documentation of all staff training and development activities.
- Coordinate with HR and IT to align training platforms and LMS systems with department needs.
- Establish KPIs to evaluate training effectiveness, completion rates, and staff readiness.
- Generate reports for leadership on training compliance, trends, and improvement areas.
- Use data to proactively identify gaps and recommend interventions to close them.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Education, or related field required.
- 2–5 years of experience in healthcare, EVS, training, or operational leadership roles.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory standards in healthcare.
- Background in training development, adult learning principles, or quality improvement initiatives.
- Excellent organizational, project management and time management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to analyze data, interpret audit trends, and develop action plans.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, learning management systems, and data tracking tools.
- Demonstrated leadership, flexibility, and initiative in fast-paced environments.
