As the Catering Director, you will oversee the full operation of the catering department, ensuring service excellence, flawless execution, and alignment with R/A and JPMC brand standards. This is a hands‑on operations role focused on leading a team of hourly and salaried associates, delivering top‑tier daily experiences, and setting the tone for hospitality throughout the Chicago campus.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement catering service standards and operating procedures for the Chicago campus.
- Anticipate and respond to client and guest needs with proactive, solution‑oriented communication.
- Ensure customer concerns are addressed, resolved, and followed up appropriately.
- Manage daily catered functions, ensuring precision, timeliness, and flawless execution.
- Oversee inventory management including equipment, product, linens, and décor.
- Plan menus, floor layouts, décor, and entertainment (when appropriate) for catered events.
- Ensure operations align with budget guidelines and financial expectations.
- Lead and develop the catering team—responsible for hiring, training, coaching, counseling, and progressive discipline.
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Catering Services and the Executive Chef on event planning and execution.
- Maintain accurate tracking, billing, and administrative systems for all catered events.
- Prepare and distribute detailed function sheets to all relevant departments on a scheduled cadence.
- Ensure proper sanitation, safety, and organization of equipment and workspaces.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support department and account needs.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of food, industry trends, and catering best practices.
- Minimum 3 years of experience managing catering operations in a high‑volume, luxury, or premium F&B environment.
- ServSafe certification recommended.
- Exceptional communication, problem‑solving, and event‑strategizing skills.
- Strong computer proficiency, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and ethical decision‑making aligned with both R/A and JPMC standards.
