Job Summary
The Catering Sales Manager oversees internal and external catering operations at the Cleveland Museum of Art, managing approximately $2 million in corporate, social, and museum event business. This role is responsible for full-cycle event planning, menu development, budgeting, and client relations while ensuring seamless execution and high service standards. The position offers free garage parking and a flexible schedule, including on-site presence during events.
Key Responsibilities

Manage catering operations including sales, planning, staffing, execution, and post-event follow-up

Develop creative, cost-effective menus with chefs; prepare proposals, contracts, and banquet event orders (BEOs)

Hire, train, and lead catering staff; implement service techniques and ensure performance excellence

Oversee budgets, forecasts, financial targets, and receivables

Build and maintain client relationships; manage client database and vendor partnerships

Coordinate event logistics including food prep, service, A/V setup, and post-event clean-up

Ensure compliance with HACCP and all food safety and sanitation protocols

Lead special projects and other assigned responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
-
3–5 years in hospitality, including at least 2 years in catering sales

Demonstrated success in meeting/exceeding sales goals

Strong knowledge of food trends, fine dining standards, and event operations

Experience managing food service, A/V, and staff performance

Excellent leadership, communication, scheduling, and problem-solving skills

Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and general office software

Detail-oriented, adaptable, and calm under pressure

High integrity and exceptional customer service and client relations skills
