LEAD LANDSCAPER (FULL TIME)

  • Schedule: Full time schedule. Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 3:30 pm. More details upon interview.
  • Requirement: At least 2 years of experience leading landscape or grounds maintenance teams required.
  • Pay Range: $18.00 per hour to $25.00 per hour

Job Summary



Summary:  Leads and works alongside a small landscape maintenance team in the care and enhancement of ornamental landscapes, including flower beds, shrubs, trees, turf, and seasonal color displays. Trains, assigns, coordinates, and reviews the work of grounds personnel while ensuring high standards of landscape appearance and plant health. Performs a variety of skilled landscaping and horticultural tasks related to planting, pruning, irrigation, lawn care, and landscape maintenance.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads daily landscape maintenance activities, assigning and monitoring work to ensure quality, efficiency, and safety.
  • Oversees the care and maintenance of flower beds, ornamental plants, turfgrass, shrubs, groundcovers, and trees.
  • Performs and directs planting, transplanting, cultivating, mulching, pruning, trimming, fertilizing, and irrigation activities to promote healthy landscape growth.
  • Monitors landscape conditions and recommends improvements for plant health, appearance, and seasonal enhancements.
  • Identifies and addresses weed, pest, and disease issues using approved horticultural practices.
  • Oversees lawn care activities, including mowing, edging, aeration, fertilization, and irrigation management.
  • Operates and trains staff on the safe use of landscape and groundskeeping equipment and tools.
  • Coordinates and participates in debris removal, site cleanups, and maintenance of parking lots, walks, driveways, fences, and other exterior areas.
  • Assists management with scheduling, inventory control, and completion of equipment, vehicle, and maintenance reports.
  • Maintains professional communication with supervisors, employees, customers, and the general public.
  • Responds to emergencies and severe weather events as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of experience leading landscape or grounds maintenance crews.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of landscape maintenance practices, including flower bed management, shrub and tree care, turfgrass maintenance, irrigation systems, and seasonal plantings.
  • Ability to identify common ornamental plants, shrubs, trees, weeds, pests, and diseases.
  • Proficiency in the safe operation and maintenance of landscape equipment and tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, standing, and walking in outdoor environments.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.



Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to: strenuous labor for extended periods of time, heavy equipment, hazardous construction zones and work sites, extreme weather conditions, paint and petroleum products. Work time expectation, 90% of time will be physical labor, 10% training and misc.
