CHEF (FULL TIME)

- Schedule: Full time schedule; days and hours may vary as needed. Days, evenings, weekdays, and weekends. More details upon interview.
- Requirement: Prior experience as a catering event chef is required.
- Pay Range: $25.00 per hour to $27.00 per hour.

Job Summary
Summary:  The Event Chef directs and coordinates all aspects of off-site kitchen and food production operations, leading a diverse team to deliver exceptional culinary experiences. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to train and motivate team members. As a polished representative of Catering by Design, the Event Chef ensures that each event is executed with professionalism, creativity, and collaboration—bringing the client’s culinary vision to life through world-class service and innovation.  
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
- Supervises, coordinates and participates in activities of cooks and other associates engaged in preparing, cooking and serving food. Ensures all food handling, sanitation and customer service standards are met.
- Supervises hourly kitchen associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action.
- Efficiently prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes to meet production, delivery and service schedules. Serves meals or prepares for delivery.
- Ensures proper presentation, food quality, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures.
- Tracks food use, waste and consumption to requisition or purchase product.
- Receives and inspects product and supplies for quality and quantity to ensure appropriate inventory.
- Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils. Cleans workstation thoroughly before leaving area. Keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service to ensure compliance with sanitation, safety, production and merchandising requirements.
- Ability to read, digest and extrapolate important information from Special Event Orders and their notes to plan detailed staff assignments, event execution, and meeting timelines.
- Ability to read and follow company Standard Operating Procedures, as well as event specific notes and execution plans. ● Provide clear direction of assignments and timeline.
- Ensure that all CBD equipment is used properly, taken care of, and returns back to the the shop.
- Making sure our team takes great care of the physical venue and any used equipment, and is a respectful and courteous partner with venue staff and fellow vendors.
- Execute and manage an efficient breakdown and safe load out.
- Complete detailed event evaluations, and communicate staff performance concerns as needed.
- Ensure accurate time punches are submitted for event staff.
- Complete required responsibilities upon return to the warehouse.
- Helps select and develop recipes and menus.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
