Job Summary:

Canteen is a fast-growing leader in food services, dedicated to delivering quality products and exceptional service across our retail and client network. As we expand, we’re looking for a motivated Retail / Client Route Manager to oversee service routes, strengthen customer relationships, and drive growth in key territories.

What You'll Do:

 

  • Manage and optimize daily service routes across assigned retail and client accounts.
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with clients.
  • Ensure timely delivery, product rotation, merchandising, and presentation.
  • Identify opportunities for upselling, product expansion, and account growth.
  • Monitor inventory levels, resolve on-site issues, and maintain service standards.
  • Track performance metrics, route efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with sales, operations, and logistics teams to support business goals.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and food safety standards.

What We’re Looking For:

 

  • 2–4+ years of experience in route management, retail account management, or food/beverage distribution.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of 8–10 route drivers, ensuring strong performance and accountability.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to conduct site visits, support client needs, and drive customer retention.
  • Experience assisting with branch grand openings and supporting field operations.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with local and national account standards, including review of corporate compliance reports and follow-through on corrective actions.
  • Skilled in developing and implementing action plans to improve SSS/control V-9 metrics (food waste, out-of-stocks, etc.).
  • Ability to partner with local management to develop and track an incremental sales plan (Owners Business Plan) aimed at increasing account profitability.
  • Capable of coordinating efforts to enhance customer experience at the point of sale, improve retention, and strengthen long-term relationships.
  • Experience identifying retail pricing opportunities, driving repeat sales, and introducing new products to increase revenue.
  • Commitment to upholding merchandising standards and ensuring all locations maintain visual and operational excellence.
  • Ability to assess location-level performance using tools like Quarterly District Evaluations and other audit reports.
  • Willingness and ability to perform route driver duties when needed — including driving a company vehicle, delivering products, providing service, and maintaining vending or related equipment.
  • Reliable, organized, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced field environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to lift/push/pull up to 50lbs.
