Job Summary

Step into a leadership role where culinary excellence meets high-energy events. As a Senior Sous Chef, you will support the Executive Chef in delivering exceptional food quality, consistency, and presentation while helping lead kitchen operations that exceed guest expectations. You will play a key role in maintaining standards, developing culinary talent, and ensuring safe, efficient execution across all service areas.

Qualifications

  • Culinary degree or equivalent professional culinary training
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive culinary leadership experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Experience with high-volume or event-driven culinary operations
  • Proficiency in inventory control, ordering, and cost management systems

Key Responsibilities

  • Support execution of all culinary operations and menu standards
  • Supervise and guide Sous Chefs and kitchen team members
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and safety standards
  • Assist with scheduling and labor planning to meet business demandsMonitor food quality, consistency, and presentation across all outlets
  • Support training and development of culinary team members 

Details of Operation

Support operations for NYRA's horse racing facilities in New York, working under the direction of the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef, and assisting in the overseeing of the Culinary departmental units including hourly culinary supervisors/cooks/etc.

 

Levy operates all of the food and beverage areas for New York Racing Association's thoroughbred horse racing tracks - Belmont Race Track in Elmont (reopening Fall 2026*), and Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs. This position will be based at Belmont Race Track. This position may support Saratoga Race Course onsite from July to September (through Labor Day); housing will be provided.
