PAYROLL SPECIALIST

Position Title: PAYROLL SPECIALIST - FORT WORTH, TX

Job Summary

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support accurate and timely payroll operations in a fast-paced construction environment. This role handles payroll processing, audits, and reconciliation, along with certified payroll, employee data management, reporting, and system administration. You’ll partner closely with corporate payroll teams to ensure compliance and smooth execution.

 

The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and customer-focused, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining strict accuracy and confidentiality.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Payroll Operations

  • Process weekly payroll for hourly, salaried, and field employees
  • Audit and reconcile timesheets, labor allocations, overtime, and earnings
  • Manage payroll changes including pay rates, bonuses, commissions, and reimbursements
  • Maintain accurate payroll data across systems
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in partnership with Corporate Payroll
  • Reconcile payroll after each cycle
  • Certified Payroll & Compliance
  • Administer certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Support payroll audits, reporting, and compliance reviews

 

Employee Data & Systems

  • Maintain employee payroll records (pay, taxes, direct deposit, etc.)
  • Support payroll systems (Viewpoint Vista) including setup and updates
  • Track PTO and ensure alignment across HR, payroll, and timekeeping systems
  • Assist employees with payroll, timekeeping, and expense inquiries

 

Administrative Support

  • Track licenses, certifications, MVRs, and drug testing requirements
  • Maintain payroll procedures and documentation
  • Provide system access support and employee training on payroll processes
  • Participate in ongoing training and cross-functional development

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of payroll, accounting, HR administration, or construction administration experience preferred.
  • Experience with construction payroll, certified payroll, prevailing wage reporting, or payroll compliance strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Viewpoint Vista or similar payroll and ERP systems preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and business software applications.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to continuous learning.
