Job Summary

The Healthcare Furniture Technician is responsible for the installation, repair, maintenance, refurbishment, and inspection of furniture and furnishings within healthcare facilities. This role supports a safe, functional, and patient-centered environment by ensuring furniture assets meet operational, safety, infection prevention, and quality standards. This is a first shift 7am to 3:30pm M-F schedule.

Key Responsibilities 

Inspect, repair, and maintain healthcare furniture including patient room furnishings, waiting room seating, casegoods, desks, tables, and clinical support furnishings. 

Assemble and install furniture according to manufacturer and facility standards. 

Replace damaged components such as casters, glides, locks, hinges, upholstery, armrests, and adjustment mechanisms. 

Perform preventive maintenance to extend asset life and reduce downtime. 

Conduct furniture moves, additions, and reconfigurations during department renovations and relocations. 

Ensure furniture complies with safety, accessibility, and infection prevention requirements. 

Document work orders, repairs, inspections, and asset condition assessments. 

Maintain inventory of repair parts, materials, and tools. 

Coordinate with Facilities, Environmental Services, Nursing, and vendors as needed. 

Follow all organizational safety policies and PPE requirements. 

Required Qualifications 

High school diploma or equivalent. 

2+ years of experience in furniture repair, facilities maintenance, carpentry, woodworking, or a related trade. 

Experience using hand and power tools. 

Ability to read work orders, assembly instructions, and technical documents. 

Strong customer service and problem-solving skills. 

Preferred Qualifications 

Experience in a hospital, clinic, long-term care, or healthcare environment. 

Knowledge of infection prevention practices and healthcare safety standards. 

Certification in furniture repair, carpentry, upholstery, or related field.
