Job Summary
Thea Bowman Leadership Academy in Gary, IN is seeking a Director of Dining Services to lead our culinary team in delivering exceptional service to our K–12 campus of 850 students. This is more than just a job—it’s a chance to transform dining into a daily experience that nourishes minds, builds community, and supports student success. From summer feeding programs to catering events, you’ll be at the heart of a school that values strong client partnerships and innovative food service.
In this role, you’ll oversee up to six dedicated frontline Chartwells associates, guiding them with purpose and positivity. You’ll lead operations with excellence, collaborate closely with school leadership, and help shape the future of institutional dining. With a strong contract and partnership already in place, you’ll have the tools and support to elevate our food programs and build memorable moments for students and staff alike. Key Responsibilities:
Oversees all P&L and budgeting as it pertains to the account.
Maintains excellent relationships with the client.
Works with the team in crafting nutritious and top-quality food for the students.
Implements new culinary programs in conjunction with the marketing and culinary teams.
Acts as a liaison between the Chartwells, Client, and the community.
Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient functioning of a dining service operation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Food Services Technology/Management/Hospitality/Nutrition or Culinary preferred or equivalent experience.**
Three plus years of foodservice management experience.
Dining experience.
Strong leadership.
Financial and strong intuition for business.
Excellent communication skills.
