Salary:  $60,000 - $70,000 / year

Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on, self-motivated Executive Chef to lead all culinary operations at Timmons Arena and Paladin Stadium at Furman University. This role encompasses concessions and premium suite catering for sports and special events, as well as overseeing the arena as a private event venue during non-sporting periods. The ideal candidate will bring strong culinary expertise, high-volume foodservice experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all kitchen operations, ensuring quality, consistency, and compliance with corporate culinary standards.

  • Direct the preparation and execution of menus—both standard and custom—for concessions and catered events.

  • Train and supervise kitchen staff on food preparation, safe handling practices, equipment use, and sanitation.

  • Maintain inventory and order food and non-food supplies within budget while ensuring availability.

  • Develop and manage cleaning and maintenance schedules for kitchen equipment, storage, and workspaces.

  • Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal food safety and sanitation regulations.

  • Adapt kitchen operations to support a variety of events, including high-volume sports games and private functions.

  • Perform additional duties as required to support culinary operations.

 

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in culinary arts or equivalent professional experience.

  • 3–5 years of progressive kitchen and culinary management experience.

  • Proven ability to manage high-volume, complex foodservice operations.

  • Strong knowledge of current culinary trends, sanitation standards, food cost controls, and presentation.

  • Extensive catering and events background; sports and arena catering experience highly preferred.

  • Comfortable working independently and managing a small team.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, email, and internet-based systems.

  • ServSafe certification strongly preferred.
