Summary
We’re seeking enthusiastic, service‑minded Banquet Servers to join our Convention Center event operations team. In this role, you will help deliver exceptional guest experiences for conferences, galas, corporate meetings, weddings, trade shows, and large‑scale events hosted throughout our convention center. Key Responsibilities and Qualifications
Food & Beverage Service
- Provide professional, friendly, and efficient food and beverage service during events.
- Serve plated meals, beverages, and desserts efficiently and according to event flow.
- Monitor guest tables and respond promptly to requests such as drink refills, dietary needs, or special accommodation.
- Replenish buffet lines, beverage stations, coffee stations, and snack setups to ensure items remain stocked and presentable.
- Support the flow of food from the kitchen to the event floor, ensuring timely delivery for each course.
- Clear plates, glasses, and used service items discreetly to maintain a clean and pleasant guest environment.
- Communicate with culinary and event staff regarding meal timing, course progression, dietary needs, or service adjustments.
- Maintain and refresh F&B presentation, ensuring tables, stations, and décor remain neat and visually appealing.
- Responsibilities may be adjusted or expanded as needed to meet the needs of the department and operational needs.
Event Setup & Décor
- Set up event spaces, including tables, chairs, linens, place settings, buffet lines, and beverage stations according to event specifications.
- Assist with setting up and positioning décor elements including centerpieces, signage, tabletop accents, and themed displays in and around banquet service areas, meeting rooms, and event stations.
Event Maintenance During Service
- Maintain clean and organized service stations, including polishing glassware, refreshing utensils, and replenishing supplies throughout the event.
- Follow all service standards, safety and sanitation guidelines, and event timelines.
- Respond promptly to guest needs and ensure a positive, welcoming atmosphere.
Event Transitions & Break Down
- Support event staff with room flips and transitions between sessions as needed.
- Help break down event spaces and return equipment to appropriate areas post‑event.
Qualifications
- Previous banquet, catering, restaurant, or hospitality experience preferred but not required.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, and carry up to 25 lbs. or more for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with large groups.
- Reliable, punctual, and team oriented.
- Must be flexible to work in an event-based scheduling system and available for evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event demand and operational needs.
Physical Requirements
Mobility & Endurance
- Stand and walk for extended periods (typically 6–10 hours per shift), often on hard surfaces.
- Move quickly and safely through crowded or fast-paced event spaces.
Lifting & Carrying
- Lift, carry, and transport trays, banquet equipment, and supplies weighing up to 25 lbs. or more regularly.
- Lift and move items such as chafing dishes, stacks of plates, beverage tubs, and banquet equipment and banquet decor when needed.
Reaching, Bending, & Physical Activity
- Bend, stoop, reach, and kneel frequently while setting rooms, serving, or clearing tables.
- Balance large serving trays at or above shoulder level.
- Push and pull equipment such as carts, linen bins, or portable bars.
Manual Dexterity & Coordination
- Maintain steady hands and fine motor control when carrying multiple plates or serving hot liquids.
- Handle glassware, silverware, and serving utensils safely and efficiently.
Environmental Conditions
- Work in environments that may be warm (near kitchen or service stations) or cool (ballrooms, storage areas).
- Navigate large event spaces, including walking long distances within the convention center.
- Work around continuous noise in busy banquet halls.
Work Pace & Sensory Requirements
- Work at a fast pace during peak service times.
- Communicate clearly with team members and guests in a high-volume environment.
- Maintain awareness of surroundings to avoid spills, collisions, or hazards.
Schedule Flexibility
- Work early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
- Work extended shifts or double shifts during large conventions or multi-day events.
