Job Summary

Chartwells Higher Education is hiring a Quality Assurance Specialist at the University of Houston.  In this key leadership role, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe, compliant, and well‑regulated campus dining environment by managing safety, health, and risk‑management programs while aligning with federal, state, and UH System policies.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

· Responsible for providing QA training for salaried and hourly associates on a regular basis
· Train all associates on QA policies and procedures, and maintain accurate records
· Verify that the campus dining QA system is effective and make changes as vital
· Connect with client, management and campus dining managers and chefs on all Quality Assurance issues
· Perform Quality Assurance and Sanitation Audits on a daily and weekly basis
· Provide written feedback to managers & chefs regarding non-compliant observations after inspections are completed
· Resolve immediate violations, and develop SOP’s to reduce/eliminate future occurrences
· Report all QA, food safety and occupational safety issues that are identified at the time of daily and routine account inspections/audits to leadership
· Initiate and conduct all internal BOH inspections and audits
· Participate in all external audits with third parties
· Work with Compass Group and Clients’ procurement teams to ensure effective methods (i.e.- purchasing, receiving, holding, transport, etc.) are in in place
· Complete corrective action plans that include preventative measures are implemented
· Work with Managers and Chefs to ensure all corrective /preventative actions are effective and sustained
· Continually verify proficiency of associates and recommend disciplinary action as appropriate
· Produce quarterly QA Dashboard detailing trends and compliance to report out in client reviews (monthly and quarterly)
· Responsible for occupational safety program logs and safety board program
· Responsible for all Compass Group safety program policies and standards including completion of QSI and MFSI at 100%

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Food and/or safety experience is preferred.
  • Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations.
  • Supervisory, leadership, management and coaching skills are preferred.
  • Excellent problem solving, creativity, and training skills.
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet.
  • Bachelor's degree in food service, safety, nutrition or related field is preferred.
