Chartwells Higher Education is seeking a Vice President of Food Service Operations to oversee one of Compass Group's most prestigious accounts: the University of Houston. Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership: Ensure all aspects of operations—financial performance, client retention, regulatory compliance, and culinary excellence—meet or exceed expectations.
Build Strong Relationships: Develop high-impact connections with clients, ensuring their needs are met while championing new programs and services.
Drive Results: Spearhead the region’s success by building and leading high-performing teams, ensuring they meet corporate standards, and implementing corrective measures when necessary.
Financial Stewardship: Lead budget development, financial forecasting, and ensure all business units meet fiscal goals.
Sales & Growth: Actively participate in the sales process, from site surveys and client presentations to contract negotiations.
Compliance & Standards: Conduct regular audits and ensure facilities meet Compass Group's standards in financial, sanitation, and human resource practices.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or equivalent professional experience
  • 12-15 years upscale food service experience, including 10 years at the management level and five to seven years’ experience of multi-unit management
  • Experience in personnel management including hiring, supervision, evaluation and succession planning
  • Ability to multi-task as well as stay on task and concentrate with constant interruptions
  • Must be able to make business decisions based on financial reports and similar facts
  • Must be knowledgeable on HACCP controls along with proper storage and use of food
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • ServSafe or Department of Health certification a plus
  • Must be able to read and interpret business records and statistical reports
  • Must be able to analyze and interpret policies established by administrators
