Salary: 75,000 - 80,000 / year based on experience

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Retail Manager to lead retail dining operations within a high-volume healthcare food service environment. This role oversees a unionized team and is responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience while driving operational excellence, financial performance, and innovation across multiple retail and service outlets.

With a $2.25M managed volume and a team of approximately 12 associates, this leader will play a key role in supporting broader Food & Nutrition Services operations as part of a collaborative, cross-functional leadership team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day retail and cafeteria operations, ensuring alignment with Morrison Healthcare standards for food safety, team safety, and operational performance
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a unionized team; drive accountability across all shifts and service periods
  • Oversee hiring, training, and performance management of hourly team members
  • Plan, execute, and supervise retail initiatives, promotions, pop-ups, and “surprise and delight” events to enhance the guest experience
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and leadership team to support internal catering operations
  • Maintain strict adherence to cash handling procedures, payroll processes, and financial reporting standards
  • Ensure proper execution of opening and closing procedures, daily checklists, and operational routines
  • Monitor and manage financial performance, including reporting, basic accounting functions, and budget adherence
  • Promote high standards of customer service, food quality, sanitation, and presentation
  • Complete required daily, weekly, and monthly reports in accordance with corporate policies
  • Support management rotation schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Service Management, Hospitality, or related field preferred (or Associate degree with relevant experience)
  • 1–3+ years of retail or foodservice management experience, ideally in a high-volume environment
  • Prior experience working in a union environment strongly preferred
  • Experience managing multiple retail outlets or revenue streams
  • Background in cash handling, reporting, and basic accounting practices
  • Strong understanding of foodservice operations, catering, merchandising, and retail trends
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team development skills
  • Proven ability to drive accountability, operational consistency, and service excellence
  • Experience with marketing initiatives, promotions, and retail programming is highly desirable
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications
