Job Summary

Join us as a Sr Director of Dining Services, leading all facets of a large multi-unit dining account in the Jackson, MI area. You'll be our primary point of contact for the client and responsible for coordinating all levels of the foodservice program. Successful candidates will drive teams within the account, own the overall operation, and provide planning and direction to achieve operational and financial goals in a dynamic environment. You'll align regulations, maintain robust client relationships, and passionately fulfill our mission to feed kids.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads, mentors, and empowers diverse teams at large or multiple accounts, aiming to provide outstanding service to the client, students, and community.
  • Drives and develops self and team at the account(s) toward encouraging positive relationships with clients and achieving key performance indicators (profitability, safety, engagement, etc.).
  • May serve on the district leadership team, actively participating in ongoing discussions with peers to share standard processes, mitigate risks, promote diversity, and foster community.
  • Ensures decisions are carefully considered for risk/reward and short/long-term implications, actively seeking input from the team and partners.
  • Acts as the representative/brand ambassador of the Chartwells team within the district(s) and the community, attending key client and community events.
  • Supports functional areas including safety, marketing, nutrition, and culinary.
  • Ensures adherence to local, state, federal, and company policies, conducting unit audits to ensure compliance in key areas such as food storage and sanitation.
  • Maintains compliance with USDA regulations and provides mentorship for all applicable meal and retail programs, completing all required reporting on time.
  • Champions development within the account(s), possessing a comprehensive understanding of all roles within the operation; conducts performance evaluations and succession planning.
  • Leads the financial results, ensuring accuracy in reporting, forecasting, and budgeting processes.
  • Ensures consistent and equitable administration of all policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • Meets educational minimum and work experience requirements per USDA Professional Standards for the account(s): Bachelor's degree in any academic major, and at least 2 years of relevant school nutrition programs experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three (3) years of management experience, preferably in foodservice, hospitality management, plant operations management, environmental services, laundry, or other Support Services area.
  • Proficient in foodservice management with a consistent track record of success, ideally in K12 foodservice.
  • Demonstrates a consistent record of leading a business and a team, strong customer service skills, and solid business and financial competence.
  • Exhibits strong initiative, critical thinking, ownership, communication (listening, written, and verbal), multitasking, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent digital literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and POS software.
